BatPug!

You may have seen the video clip of Teddy the pug, who says “batman” when he barks.

Of course it wasn’t long before the following remix was released. I could watch this a million times and still laugh my head off.

Da na na na na na na na BATMAN!!!

An Update

Hello All

I know it’s been a long time since we’ve updated. We do have some sad news, and that is that poor Muffin is now blind. She has had difficulties with her eyesight for years now, but a few months ago she finally lost it completely. She had dry eye and pigmentary keratitis for many years, and the icing on the cake was that she ended up with cataracts as well.

On the up side, she is just as happy as ever and has been adapting well to her newfound darkness. We have put up “bumpers” on all the sharp corners and walls in the house, and have a baby gate on the stairs to prevent any accidents. She often knows the direction she should be turning to get where she wants to go, and even remembers how many stairs are at the front door. She reaches out with her front paw to feel for each step. I always knew she was extremely intelligent!

It looks like everyone had a great time at the Hawaiian theme pug party. It’s a bit too much action and commotion for Muffin these days but we thought we would get in the spirit and post our own theme pic:

Muffin is lucky to have her sister Lizzy as a ‘guide dog’ for her. She can often be found trailing Lizzy around or sitting in the same chair. It seems Lizzy does not hear quite as well as she once did, so Muffin is the ears of the pair and Lizzy is the eyes. Makes for a great tag team.

We hope everyone is doing well, and we miss all of you - both pug and human – in the pug party gang!

Happy 10th Birthday Muffin!

It’s Muffin’s 10th birthday today…a whole decade of puggy joy!

Ups and Downs

I’m talking literal ups and downs, as in getting up on and jumping down from the bed.

My mom decided that I was getting too old to be flinging myself into space as is my wont when I jump down from the bed. I am very good at using the stool to get up on it, but I tend to just jump as high and as far as I can to get off. This is exacerbated by the fact that there are no carpets and therefore hard floors for landings.

So the other day mom and dad took the bedframe off the bed and put the boxspring directly on the floor. This has the bonus feature of removing the need for under-the-bed vaccuuming. The bed is still fairly high considering, due to the double pillow tops and the memory foam on top of that, but so far it’s been much better for me. It’s entertaining for Dad, he finds it hilarious that I still jump just as high as I did before to get up on the bed. Better safe than sorry, I always say…

It was such hard work (heavy sarcasm here) moving that frame that Dad and I decided we should lie down for a while even though the sheets weren’t finished yet.

Dad’s camera card got switched around with mom’s for some reason, so we found some ‘bonus’ photos:

Here’s mom getting ready in out teeny-tiny bathroom. If that red bag on the sink was turned around, you would see it has a big picture of a pug on it…

Here’s me waiting for her to finish putting on her makeup and sit down so I can finally sit on her knee…

Here’s what happens when you put leftover chicken balls in the microwave:

And here’s what happens after dinner every night at our house:

Christmas Pics, belated

In a typical fashion, we are only just now posting our Christmas pictures.

After opening presents at home, we venture over to grandma and grandpa’s house. This is about the 10th picture of dad and I, due to the fact that we couldn’t both pose with our eyes open at the same time…

Mom gets pugified while she drinks her coffee. Also, I just noticed in horrified fashion that she is wearing the same sweater here that she wore at New Years. Well it was a Christmas present from dad, I guess she liked it!

Grandma gets a pug statue…Lizzy and I check it out to ensure that it is indeed an inanimate object.

Apparently we didn’t get any pictures of grandpa except for this one of him in the background:

Next it’s on to dad’s parents house just a few blocks away.

Here I am on speed or perhaps possessed…Rosie doesn’t seem to care either way.

This is Glen’s sister Kacey and her little yak – er, I mean dog – Pumpkin. He does look decidedly less yak-ish in this picture actually.

Pumpkin helps Wendy open her present, meanwhile I am positive my mom is holding something edible off that food tray.

I go over to check out Matthew opening a present. He was that excited for each and every gift. His more reserved brother Andrew studiously reads the instructions on a toy.

My close up!!!!!

There are probably 15 similar pictures from the same day, all with a slight variation in snaggle-tooth or head tilt position.

Matthew shows off his new (but thankfully fake) tattoos. We plan on blackmailing him with these pictures when he gets older ;)

My mom and I. I still look slightly demon-possessed here.

For some reason we didnt do any “group in front of the tree” shots this year. Probably we were all too busy stuffing our faces for 12 straight hours…

Happy New Year!!!

We had a fun-filled but busy holiday. Now it’s back to the ‘real world’ again…

By popular vote, it was decided that we would host the New Year’s Bash at our house again this year. My mom went out to the dollar store to get various accoutrements, including these 2010 glitter body tattoos.

Dad went with some mini cowboy hats for the guys (because real men don’t wear tiaras, or so I’m told) and some snazzy beer goggles.

Apparently you are even ‘manlier’ if you wear 2 hats, as displayed by Brandon. Megan wears the much more stylish tiara.

Sean demonstrates the proper way to stick a tattoo on your face.

Carl demonstrates the proper way to hold your beer. He wedged into that corner and didn’t get up again. Not that we blame him, we ran out of seating about an hour into the festivities.

Tim demonstrates how to suck in your stomach and look svelte for photo taking purposes. We got yelled at for being too slow on the camera, apparently gut-sucking is a very short term measure.

Here we are preparing for the ball to drop and midnight to toll!! Everyone have your noisemakers??

Sean puts on the paper hat from the Holiday Crackers that my mom bought on impulse. They were Christmas ones, so they were on sale! He is also wearing the light-up bow tie we got him. Suave!

My mom and her best friend Allie. Allie was at a black & white theme wedding for the evening and we thought she wasn’t coming. At about 5 minutes to midnight a car comes ripping up the driveway, and she made it in time to ring in the New Year with us!

Dad lets mom put a 2010 tattoo on his forehead. Funny thing about those dollar store tattoos: it actually says on the package not to wear one for more than 6 hours. As it turns out, no one suffered any ill effects. It was almost a little disappointing!

The girls show off their tattoos and tiaras.

These are the food tables. The sad part about this is that this picture was taken at the end of the night. Leftovers for a week! That space at the front was from the door prizes. My mom thought it would be fun to buy some prizes and wrap them up. Everyone got an ArmDrop ticket (last seasons leftovers, why not use them up!) and the winners got to pick their mystery prizes.

Mom so kindly drinks the ‘diet’ orange cooler that dad opened but didn’t like.

There’s just one thing missing in all these photos….ME!! I was there the whole time, but apparently did not get captured on film. Or SD card, whatever.

Here’s me wearing my mom’s St. Patty’s Day hat so I can be cool like the guys.

I’m making that face from eating too much at the party.

We had a great New Years and we hope you all did too!

Still to come: the Christmas photos

LOLpugz

Shamelessly ‘borrowed’ from the IHasAHotdog website, I have once again fished through the lot to find pug related LOLZ!

Final ArmDrop BBQ 2009

Our final ArmDrop BBQ was on October 4th this year. We like to try and have a theme for each one, and since it was in October we went with HALLOWEEN. We had a few party poopers, but for the most part everyone dressed in costume. We also decided to clear out the barn so that we could have the party in a more sheltered space.

I of course ‘recycled’ my Wonder Woman costume and spent a good deal of time with a helmetless Darth Vader.

Here we have some of the ladies in a nice array of costumes. My mom went as “Officer Frisky” including handcuffs and a soft pellet gun which had to be confiscated from the boys early on in the party.

Darth Vader is busy, so I hang out with a very creepy demon fellow.

Arr matey! It’s Geothermal Heating Dave pillaging the soda cooler.

Lex AKA Little Bo Peep gets cold and hungry. She came with an inflatable sheep which somehow got lost only 10 minutes into the party.

Dad as a monk and Mike as a brick. The brick said ‘dating tool’ down the side, which actually is pretty tame for Mike…

What?? We are low on alcohol?? The girls in full costume pack themselves in the car and do an LCBO run. This was especially amusing to staff and comsumer alike as it was nearly a full month early for actual Halloween.

Officer Frisky is drinking on the job…

Kacey as a witch demonstrates how to magically produce money out of thin air!! Ok not really.

Mike demonstrates how his dating tool transforms into a convenient table.

Grandpa, being a big hockey fan, comes as a Kingston Frontenac.

And here we have our token fuzzy photo of both grandma and grandpa as Frontenacs.

Honestly, we have no idea who this guy even is…creepy costume tho.

More witches show up to the party. That was the most prevalent costume of the day. You can’t really see Kim’s hands in the background due to blur, but she had on some neat fake green fingers.

The boys fashion little Thomas a mini-brick costume to his delight.

Aww what a cutie he is.

The night gets a bit chilly and many costumes are abandoned for warmer gear. Quite a few folks move out to the warmth of the bonfire. I reappear at grandma’s side after being strangely absent from many of the pictures!

iPhone Pics

Yup it snowed yesterday. This is a pic taken with my mom’s iPhone of the winter wonderland outside.

On the upside, we didn’t have to go anywhere so my mom and I enjoyed watching the snow and the birds in the feeder from the safety of our chair and electric throw.

I like to mix things up a bit so after dinner I cozied up with dad and his non-electric yet still cozy blanket.

That blinding sun-like light in the background is from the private ‘streetlight’ we have in our driveway. Dad recently had to change the bulb (a crazy and dangerous feat) however the new bulb glows with the light of a thousand suns…

Happy (American) Thanksgiving!

Since we didn’t post any of our Thanksgiving pictures from the Canadian Thanksgiving, today seems like a good day to do it.

We had pot-luck Thanksgiving at our house this year, although the deco was strictly Halloween. That’s Lizzy on the right, she conned Grandma & Grandpa into bringing her along.

We (excluding yours truly) drank wine out of the cool Halloween glasses. They weren’t made of glass, they were made of plastic. Does that make them plastics?

Lizzy and I score a treat from Grandma. This is apparently fascinating to a lot of people…

Little Ben tells us a story. I keep close in case he drops any more foodstuffs…

Lizzy gets some lovin’ (albeit in blurry, fast-forward mode) from her mom.

Oh here’s a great Lizzy close-up. I like how just the TIP of her tongue is curled.

There is obviously something edible on that coffee table…

It’s such a gorgeous day out that we all decide to walk off our dinner in the woods.  I start off by leading the way with grandpa.

I then realize that my mom is more than 10 feet away from me and I scurry back to where she is. I can actually run fast when I have to, blindness and all! My spidey senses weave me around the tall weeds and everyone’s legs.

Now that I’ve assumed the proper position, I can relax.

This is a picture that my mom definitely remembers taking of SOMETHING, but she has no idea what and we really can’t see anything noteworthy…please let us know if you happen to spot anything of interest! (click to enlarge)

Unfortunately, we already resized this picture from it’s original gigantic state so this may prove difficult.

It’s been a long day, time for pug napping.

Hope you all had/have a great Thanksgiving as well!
